Hey Jacquie, does camtasia have the option to record a smaller region of the screen and for that region to track your mouse around. You may have noticed that the compression of your movies that YouTube does so as to deliver them efficiently has made the video fuzzy and hard to see. If you set your screenrecorder to record a smaller region (rather than ful screen) and for that region to follow your mouse around, the end product (in youtube) will be a little more clearer because the details will be bigger... I have seen screenrecordings where it starts off full screen, but zooms in and out as the person does stuff. It seemed like there was a key that the person was pressing to zoom when needed for detail. Perhaps Camtasia has that? I know that Camstudio as the region setting and track mouse option, but I don't think it has zoom while recording features.

Also, now you have an original movie in high quality, you might like to take it the next step. If you use a screen camera like <a href="http://wisdom-soft.com/products/screenhunter.htm" rel="nofollow">ScreenHunter</a> (its free) - you can have it set to take a photo of the video when you press a key. It will automatically save that photo to a folder and name it in a sequential order. All you have to do is watch your high quality video and press the photo key whenever there is a key step that needs a still image for. Then you take those still images and create a PDF handout to support your video.

Doing this will have just about all bases covered in terms of a screen demo resource. A video for people to watch and get an idea, and a print out for people to study more carefully. The print out is more for those who don't yet have the software intuition to pick things up quickly enough from your videos..
